The CEMMAI Hospital (Centre for Mother/Child Medical Care) is to date, the most ambitious project undertaken by our friends at Cielo 133. Hence the need to set up the Cielo 133 Foundation so as to be able to concentrate a sustained and focussed effort on the project.
The Medical Centre will be comprised of: Emergencies, Outpatient Department, Specialist Operating Theatres, Molecular Biology Laboratory, Pharmaceutical Laboratory for Generics, Department of Infectious Diseases and a University Residence to house visiting medical residents and teams of doctors from Spain.
The Centre will also foment the training of Ethiopian medical specialists and those from other countries in Europe and the United States, who will have the opportunity to study fields in which they have had little experience in their own countries, and will serve for example, in preparing them to deal with catastrophes and natural disasters..
This will be not just a basic-care hospital, but one of the most important centres of reference for the whole of Africa. Its cost and maintenance, financing, installations and professional staff should therefore, be of the finest and reflect the very best of Ethiopia, the host country.
